Industry Issues Discussed at EVFED Meeting

The EVFED Management Board Meeting, held on June 30, 2025, at Eyüp Axis, was organized to seek solutions to the structural problems of the industry. The meeting, chaired by EVFED President Güçlü Kaplangı, was also attended by PLASFED President Ömer Karadeniz. With broad participation, the meeting allowed industry representatives to assess the current state of the sector.

Karadeniz stated that the plastic sector, one of the most dynamic areas of the Turkish economy, plays a significant role in the national economy with over 10 million tons of production, a turnover nearing $50 billion, and direct exports of finished products amounting to $9.5 billion. The President of the umbrella organization PLASFED noted that with its 10 million tons of plastic production, Turkey ranks second among EU countries after Germany and seventh globally.

Karadeniz pointed out that plastic products contributed the most to the export of chemical substances and products, mentioning that just in May, exports amounted to $885 million; in the first five months of 2025, total exports approached $4 billion.
