Ömer Karadeniz, the President of PLASFED, stated that Turkey is an industrial country and that there is no luxury of abandoning production. He said, 'Turkey's future lies in industry, in production.' Emphasizing the importance of financial sustainability for investors to foresee their future, Karadeniz asserted that development cannot occur without production. He noted that we are a society that knows how to produce very well and that under the right conditions, Turkey could become a manufacturing hub.
Stating that a societal consciousness centered on people and production will continue to strengthen the industry as it is passed down from generation to generation, PLASFED Chairman Ömer Karadeniz emphasized that Turkey's future is in industry and production.
Karadeniz highlighted the importance of financial sustainability for investors, reiterating that we are a society skilled in production. He stressed that development cannot occur without production. 'The only way to increase our level of development is through production,' said Karadeniz, adding, 'As it is known, Turkey is currently not an oil-producing country.'
'Industrialists Are Struggling to Access Finance'
Karadeniz stated that Turkish industrialists are having difficulty finding sufficient support for accessing finance, saying, 'Unfortunately, the Turkish industrialist facing a capital shortage has reached the point of reducing production. Our industry, which is dependent on raw materials, especially in the plastic sector, and wishes to continue production and employment, is expecting support in accessing finance. Today, many of our industrialists report having difficulties in accessing finance and that they are unable to produce.'
'There Is No Luxury of Abandoning Production'
Stating that the path to achieve our country's medium- and long-term goals lies in mobilizing for a qualified and value-added production life, PLASFED President said, 'No matter the conditions in our country, we have no luxury of abandoning production and investment. We must focus on production and technology by effectively using our limited financial resources.'
Karadeniz suggested the manufacturing of innovative products in order to provide higher added value in production and exports, highlighting the need to find a way to reduce costs without compromising quality and to increase added value. He noted that the sector should manufacture in compliance with European standards and the environment in order to enhance competitive production and export opportunities in global markets without sacrificing quality, stating that the greatest strength of the Turkish industrialist is production.
Karadeniz expressed that Turkish industrialists, capable of writing new stories under any circumstances, show great sacrifice while realizing their production, emphasizing that this situation is not sustainable.
Manufacturing Industry is Weakening
Karadeniz stated that the Turkish manufacturing sector's PMI data for February 2025 fell to 48.3, remaining below the threshold of 50, indicating a contraction in the sector. He expressed concern about this decline in the manufacturing industry, noting that PMI data have continuously remained below the threshold for 11 months, which reflects the situation industrialists are currently in. 'As we always say, there can be no development without production. We expect all policies focused on production to be implemented so that the industry can strengthen and continue on its path,' he stated.
