The Plastics Sector Will Continue to Revitalize the Circular Economy Through Recycling

The Chairman of the Plastics Manufacturers Federation (PLASFED), Ömer Karadeniz, stated that the circular economy impacting the plastics industry is rapidly developing both in our country and worldwide: “By minimizing environmental impacts, ensuring sustainability, and safeguarding raw material supply security, plastic recycling has become a driving force in our country’s industry. As long as our sector continues to grow and production continues, our industry will strengthen and reach a level capable of competing internationally.”

The Contributions of the Plastics Sector to the National Economy Cannot Be Overlooked

Ömer Karadeniz, the Chairman of the Plastics Manufacturers Federation (PLASFED), emphasized that the Turkish plastics sector is among the sectors contributing the most to the national economy, stating: “The contributions our sector makes in the domestic market and exports will continue both directly and indirectly in the future. Our plastic companies have reached a significant level by further increasing their power. The values that the plastics sector adds and will add to many industries, especially automotive and white goods, which impact the development of our industry, cannot be ignored. Today, the plastics sector continues to produce, strive, and contribute to the industry by taking steps to stimulate the domestic market as well as in exports.”

Our Sector Will Continue to Revitalize the Circular Economy Through Recycling

Ömer Karadeniz stated that plastics continue to replace traditional materials: “Due to their flexibility and ease of processing, plastics are now used in many different fields. Most types of plastics contribute to the circular economy due to their recyclability compared to alternative materials. Today, the importance of the circular economy and consequently recycling is rapidly increasing. Plastic recycling, with strong orientations towards minimizing environmental impacts, sustainability, and ensuring raw material supply security, continues to revitalize the circular economy as a complementary element of our sector.”

Studies on Recycling and Circular Economy Should Be Supported

Ömer Karadeniz noted their support for many platforms where sector issues and solution proposals are discussed, stating, “As the umbrella organization, the Plastics Manufacturers Federation (PLASFED) closely follows developments in the sector, and we continue our efforts with our member associations and various NGOs and public institutions to produce solutions for the issues. In the coming years, one of the sectors that will provide the most contribution to the recycling sector and guide the circular economy will be the plastics sector. As our sector grows and production continues, our industry will strengthen and reach a level able to compete internationally. One of the main goals of our studies on recycling and the circular economy is this. Our greatest wish is for the support of these collaborative efforts from our public authorities.”
