Karadeniz mentioned that the Turkish packaging sector achieved an export of 3 billion 322 million dollars in the first six months of 2024 and said, “The export amount increased by 7% compared to the same period last year, and the sector provided a foreign trade surplus of 1 billion 152 million dollars. We provide an economic movement of 490 billion dollars in our country through packaging. The biggest stakeholder of this large industry is the plastic sector.”
The President of PLASFED, Karadeniz, pointed out that the plastic packaging industry holds an important place in the economies of countries, emphasizing that plastic packaging has become a fundamental part of our daily lives parallel to the rapid development of the plastic industry. He explained that the main reason for this success is the ability of plastics to preserve valuable resources in the best way and their low weight provides cost savings.

PLASFED's President explained that consumption habits and shopping trends are increasingly changing in the modern world, stating that now a product's image is determined by its packaging. Karadeniz emphasized that interesting designs and colors increase attractiveness, while packaging that offers functional use comes at the top of consumers’ preference lists.
Karadeniz also spoke about the hygiene benefits of packaging, stating that the packaging of the purchased product guarantees it. He expressed that packaged food has become essential for human health worldwide, adding, “Consumers are becoming more aware every day. In this context, the demand for packaged food is also increasing. Packaging preserves the freshness of the food while preventing spoilage. More importance should be given to packaged food for a sustainable future and healthy generations.”
PLASFED was at the Eurasia Packaging Fair
Karadeniz stated that they participated in the recently organized Eurasia Packaging Fair, which is regarded as the largest packaging industry fair in Eurasia, to follow innovations in the sector. He noted that the Eurasia Packaging Fair is a meeting point for the industry. He reported that the fair brought together over a thousand purchasing delegations from many countries with professionals, stating, “Packaging plays a vital role in the protection, transportation, storage, and presentation of products, and with technological developments, it becomes much more effective.”
